Pardon my Partum by Hollie DeFrancisco Opening Reception
Please join us at the Spirit Room in Gallery II for Hollie DeFrancisco’s “Pardon my Partum,” a varied exhibition of macabre and whimsy paintings and illustrations exploring her partum experience.
Hollie DeFrancisco is not a native North Dakotan. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, raised in Somerville, she spent much of her upbringing traveling around the east coast, exploring anywhere that had trees or decent horror movies. In 2010 she graduated from Jacksonville University with a Bachelors in Fine Arts, and after spending yet more time on the east coast she adventured to Fargo. In 2016, after gaining a groove in the art community and teaching for Creatively Uncorked, she found she was pregnant with a daughter she never expected to be able to have. This simple event threw her personal and professional life into chaos. What should have been a purely exciting endeavor became wrought with anxiety, depression, frustration, and joy.
Hollie DeFrancisco, currently the Gallery Manager for Spirit Room, has been represented by and exhibited her work in group shows both nationally and regionally in galleries including: Alexander Breast Gallery, Underbrush Art Gallery, Spirit Room, and The Rourke.
“Pardon my Partum” is made possible through funding in part by North Dakota Council on the Arts and the Arts Partnership.
